Title: Thinking with AI: Systems, Insights and Looking Forward

Abstract: Generative AI (GenAI) is rapidly transforming how we create, think, and communicate. While these technologies promise to augment cognitive work by making tasks faster or easier, they also risk eroding critical and independent thinking, as well as disrupting society. In this talk, I will share some of my works that explore how we can design AI systems that support our thinking while championing human agency and critical thinking. I will also outline some of the research opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in this space.

Bio: For over fifteen years at Microsoft Research and Amazon, Gonzalo Ramos has led interdisciplinary research at the intersection of HCI, AI, and Design, and is currently focused on understanding, augmenting, and protecting human cognition in the age of intelligent systems. His work has been published in leading venues such as CHI, DIS, IUI, and Creativity & Cognition, influencing both academic discourse and product innovation. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, and while being born in Argentina, his soccer skills are not great.
